Issuer Rules

Rules: For 2026, based on current Bank of America policies, applicants must generally have good to excellent credit (FICO score 700+), be a U.S. resident, 18 years or older, and possess a Social Security Number or ITIN. A sufficient income to support the credit line is also required. The typical sign-up bonus is $200 cash back after spending $1,000 within the first 90 days of account opening. Eligibility for the sign-up bonus is generally restricted if you currently have or have had this specific card in the past 24 months. Bank of America also enforces a velocity rule for new applications: no more than 2 new cards in 2 months, 3 new cards in 12 months, and 4 new cards in 24 months across all Bank of America credit products.

Maximum Cards Per Issuer: 7

Minimum Spend Interval: 3 months

Shutdown Risk Triggers: Manufactured spending, excessive credit cycling, sudden drastic changes in spending patterns, high cumulative credit limit across all BoA cards relative to income, defaulting on payments, suspicious or fraudulent activity, or applying for too many cards too quickly (violating the 2/3/4 rule).
